Welcome to Talula's, the culinary gem nestled in the vibrant Asbury Park, New Jersey. Renowned for merging New American cuisine with a laid-back atmosphere, Talula's has become a beloved haven for locals and visitors alike. Located at 550 Cookman Ave, this spot is more than just a pizza joint; it’s a celebration of flavor, creativity, and community.

Step inside, and you'll be greeted with a spacious yet cozy ambiance, perfect for both casual brunches and lively dinner gatherings. As the aroma of freshly baked bread and artisanal pizzas wafts through the air, the menu unfolds like a love letter to bold flavors. The sourdough crust, a signature highlight, is not just a trend—it's an experience, providing a delightful chewiness that pairs beautifully with a variety of toppings.

For the pizza lovers, dishes like the Margherita and the cult-favorite Rocket white pizza stand out. Guests rave about the crispy edges and the savory combinations, with one reviewer fondly recalling the olive oil drizzle that ties everything together. But Talula's is not limited to pizzas; their Sammies—like the Rosemary Chicken Salad and Vegan Crab Cake Sammy—ignite the senses with their unique flavors and fresh ingredients. The Rosemary Chicken Salad, tossed with Greek yogurt and cranberries, balances comfort and sophistication.

Salads here are anything but ordinary. Consider the Shaved Brussels Sprout Salad, which combines earthy brussels sprouts with tart apples and nuts, striking a perfect chord between fresh and hearty. Each plate is crafted with care, making even the simplest dishes a treat. I found the vegan options particularly impressive, showcasing a commitment to inclusivity without compromising flavor. The Vegan Caesar salad leaves no one wanting, employing kale and cashew parm to deliver a creamy texture without dairy.

And then there are the cocktails. Who could resist a Gin & Jam, creatively blending homemade jam with refreshing botanicals? It’s not just a drink; it’s an invitation to unwind in a space where fun meets flavor. I'm almost embarrassed to say I came to Talula's after almost half a decade. Chalk it up to the long waits and laziness and life. Came in on a cold Saturday around 2 PM (they have an interesting brunch menu) and got the Margie. Solid, very solid, pizza. I'd forgotten how much I love the sourdough base. I feel conflicted about seeing chilaquiles and a Vietnamese sandwich on the menu, but their pizza can do no wrong.

Absolute banger at the Jersey shore... Talula's has one of the best bar pies in central NJ, and a killer happy hour. I liked the chill vibes and will definitely be returning! Tried both a Margherita and a white pizza (both delicious!) I gotta say the white slice was done sooo well, I haven't had a white slice of pizza blow me away like that in awhile. Don't skip it if you are thinking of trying it. Enjoyed the sourdough crust too. I believe they also make the pizza at Alternate Ending Beer Co in Aberdeen. Make sure to eat it while it's hot - the olive oil on top brought it all together, and I'm still thinking about it! They also have a bar -- the gin & jam drink is a Talula's classic and is sure to be re-ordered! Nothing like some homemade jam to pair with your drink. Do yourself a favor and try it out, you won't be disappointed!

I've only ever heard amazing things about Talulas. From their sourdough pies to their fresh baked bread, their menu seems mouthwatering. Finally stopped in for lunch and had an incredible meal! I didn't try nearly enough, so I am officially planning my next trip to try all new things. On a Saturday afternoon, 4 of us were able to get a table right away. The space is huge with lots of tables inside and some along the sidewalk. We didn't get any on this trip, but the cocktail menu looks SO good. The Gin + Jam cocktail was a hard one to pass up. We got the Rocket white pie for the table and it was sooooo good. It was the perfect amount for 4 of us to share along with our actual meals and now I can't wait to come back for more. The Rocket had mozz, ricotta, garlic, lots of arugula, lemon, and gouda. Perfect cheesy, crispy bread, all and all a great pie. For my own meal, I got the shaved brussels salad. Perfectly paired with the pizza! It was loaded with (of course) raw shaved brussel sprouts, kale, chopped apples, pecans, parm and a sweet mustard dressing. It was delicious and would have only been kicked up a notch if I decided to add chicken. For $16 (without chicken) it is kind of pricey for a not huge salad, but it was very good so no complaints. Excited to stop in again and try more pies, sammies and a cocktail.

Me and my bf were hungry and wanted to eat somewhere in Asbury. We came here on a Saturday night without reservations and waited about 30 minutes. We heard this place was pretty popular and decided to try. We got the vegan Caesar, meatball bowl, rocket pizza. Everything was so good and delicious. I would definitely come back here. I did wish the rocket pizza had more sauce. The service was quick and they were busy but attentive. The ambiance was nice, dim and cozy.

This place is absolutely fantastic. I've been going to the Jersey Shore my whole life but I've never been to Talula's. Well, this is now going to be a staple spot for me. Absolutely delicious food and great service. Highly recommend the mozzarella sticks, they were some of the best I've ever had. They are not BYOB, but because of where my table was outside it technically was. I was able to go inside and purchase a bottle of wine to bring to my table so it worked out.

Came for lunch on a weekday and it was not too busy. We opted for outdoor seating and were seated right away. You get nice shade from the buildings in the daytime so it was perfect. We ordered the Margie with sausage and the Nduja remember. The Margie was so good with the slightly tangy and sweet tomato sauce and mozzarella. We added sausage because we were craving sausage (which was delicious) and they did not skimp at all on the sausage. The Nduja remember was also very good but a little salty for my taste. I was hoping the mascarpone and pepperoni would balance it more but not as much as I hoped. The sourdough crust is also top notch with a great chew and slight char. Overall I would definitely recommend this place. I definitely want to try their other menu item. Also our server was very nice.
